Andrea Davis Pinkney (born September 26, 1963 in Washington, D.C) is the author of With the Might of Angels, her only entry for the Dear America series. She has written several books for children and young adults with a focus on African-American history. Pinkney is also vice president and editor-at-large for Scholastic Trade Books.

Pinkney has been married to Brian Pinkney for over thirty years. Brian is an illustrator and has collaborated with his wife on seventy books. The Pinkneys are also parents.[1][2]
