Catherine: The Great Journey is the twentieth and final book in The Royal Diaries series by Scholastic. The book was published in December 2005 and was preceded by Anacaona: Golden Flower. It was written by Kristiana Gregory and it is her third book for the series.

Kristiana Gregory is a children's author of over thirty books. Her debut novel, Jenny of the Tetons was released in 1989. Gregory is the author of Cleopatra VII: Daughter of the Nile and Eleanor: Crown Jewel of Aquitaine in The Royal Diaries. She also wrote five books in Dear America and three in My America.
