This is the story of a city: my city, London. It is where I was born; in my case in Camden Town, a mile to the north of Euston station in the heart of London. I live in Bayham Street, the street Charles Dickens once lived in. It's the place I grew up, whose streets and boroughs I explored at length: by bus if travelling far, but usually on foot (we Londoners walked nearly everywhere in those days). Since then I have lived in many other places, but I will always be a Londoner; it is in my genes, in my bones; it is a city that echoes through every part of me.—Jim Eldridge, Foreword
