"Out of the Ashes: The Diary of Yvonne Boissonneault" is a short story written by Marie-Andrée Clermont. It is included in the Dear Canada anthology, Hoping for Home. The story was followed by Jean Little's "Hattie's Home," the final entry in the anthology.

Marie-Andree Clermont is a Canadian author and translator from Quebec. Her work is primarily published in French and she also translates English novels into French. She is best known for her Faubourg St-Rock series, which was notable for addressing the "day-to-day problems of adolescents" at the time. Clermont grew up in Thetford Mines and included elements of several stories she had heard growing up in "Out of the Ashes."[1]
